Meet our Founding Board

Lindsay Hoyt

Lindsay served as the founding board president and is now honored to serve as governing board president of Cornerstone Classical Academy. 

She is co-owner of an electronics company which manufactures earbuds and sells across the U.S., Australia and Europe. Prior to business ownership, Lindsay has 10+ years of experience in sales and talent acquisition after making a career switch from the political sector in Washington, DC.

When she and her husband were expecting their first child, they moved back to the Jacksonville area (Lindsay’s hometown) to raise their children.

After being introduced to the BCSI in 2015, Lindsay became passionately committed to bringing a classical school to Duval County. 

Born and raised in Neptune Beach, FL, Lindsay is a Fletcher High School graduate and in her free time loves spending time with her husband, David, also a founding CCA board member, and two daughters, Virginia and Blakely. 

She has a Bachelor’s degree in Public Relations from the University of Florida and is a proud Gator fan.

Elizabeth Pauzar

Elizabeth is a Florida-certified teacher and former police officer. With more than 11 years in the public school system and serving in various capacities, she brings significant experience with education administration and classroom management.


From Kindergarten Teacher to Science Coach to English Language Learner Coordinator, she possesses a wealth of knowledge in K-12 education. She has ESOL, Physical Education, and Reading Endorsement certifications and possesses a Masters of Education degree from Florida Gulf Coast University.


Prior to her teaching career, Elizabeth served for six years at the Collier County Sheriff’s Office where she acted as a Violent Crimes and Domestic Violence Investigator. She is active in the community including membership in the Republican Woman's Club of Duval Federated. Elizabeth loves being a mom to her precious 5-year old daughter.

Lauren Wilder

Lauren is an accomplished audit executive with a 13-year track record serving public companies at Ernst & Young. She manages a team of people who work with clients on a daily basis to bring value to companies beyond the audit, while also providing assurance to applicable stakeholders. As a mom to two incredible children, maintaining a desirable work/life balance is always top priority.


Originally from North Carolina, Lauren attended the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where she earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration and a Master of Accounting. She is an avid Tar Heel fan and is often sporting her Carolina blue.


Lauren lives in southeast Jacksonville with her husband and children. They’re most often hanging out as a family at neighborhood get-togethers, friends’ birthday parties or the beach. Although they love being outdoors, Lauren and her husband are also sure to catch the latest sporting event on the big screen.

Crystal Baker

Crystal brings to the board more than a decade of experience with non-profit fundraising and management, grassroots advocacy and mobilization, operations and event planning.

She is the Director of Donor Relations for State Policy Network (SPN), a national non-profit focused on serving a network of 60+ policy research organizations. In her role, she serves as a liaison between SPN and its strategic partners primarily focused in the southeastern states. Prior to joining SPN, Crystal spent six years at a Denver-based public affairs consulting firm as Director of Operations for two foundations and a leadership program.


Originally from Frankfort, IL, she’s a recovering political operative who started her career working on a presidential campaign in Iowa in the 2008 election cycle. Crystal attended the University of Iowa where she received a Bachelor of Arts in both Psychology and Political Science.

Crystal lives in Jacksonville’s Southside area with her husband, Jeff, where she enjoys cooking, traveling, running, and new adventures. She was first introduced to the BCSI model while living in Colorado, and is excited to help bring Cornerstone Classical Academy to Duval County.

Jeff Baker

Jeff is a marketing veteran who brings over 20 years’ marketing experience to the board. He is highly-skilled in crafting customer-specific messaging while targeting audiences and achieving public relations success.


He's the former Director of Marketing for, an $850 million revenue website hosting and website customization company based in Jacksonville, FL.  Jeff possesses a Bachelor’s degree from Florida State University.


Prior to, Jeff founded and managed a successful Florida-based marketing firm where he worked with high profile clients including CVS Pharmacy, Werner Publishing, and Party City. He started his career in web programming and online marketing and brings strategy to social media campaigns and search engine optimization.

Dan Ryan

Daniel spent until he was 25 in New England and enjoyed spending his formative years learning the art of furniture making going on to become one of America’s Top 200 Artisans in Early American Life Magazine. He then spent 12 years as a Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer designing and implementing complex computer systems for various companies in New England and Florida.


Between consulting engagements, he decided on a career change and took this analytical and troubleshooting skill set to pursue a degree in Philosophy at the University of North Florida followed by his medical degree at the University of Florida. He is currently completing his residency training in neurology and has been accepted to a fellowship in electroencephalography at Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville, FL.


He brings a wealth of knowledge in IT systems, experience with management of complex IT projects and strengths in collaboration and problem solving. This along with a track record of effective communication with peers and colleagues and an appreciation for classical education make him a great fit for our founding board.


He is excited to be a member of the Jacksonville community and spending time with wife Julie, herself an entrepreneur and business owner as a full-time photographer.

David Hoyt

David is knowledgeable in all aspects of fundraising. He’s managed complex direct solicitation, direct mail, email, and donor research programs. With 10+ years of fundraising experience under his belt, David is a Senior Consultant for A.C. Fitzgerald and Associates, a highly-respected fundraising firm based in Alexandria, VA.


With an entrepreneurial and creative mind, David finds the solution when problems arise. He has owned several successful businesses where he gained experience managing finances, manufacturers, logistics, various commercial online platforms, customer service, and quality control.


He is a proud father to two incredible little girls and has a Bachelor’s degree in Philosophy from Tulane University.

Penny Kennedy

Penny is the teacher that parents are hoping their children get at Oceans Palm Elementary. Penny is currently embarking on her 35th year, her last year, of teaching at the elementary school level. She possesses a Master of Arts degree in Education and was voted “Teacher of the Year” in 1989.


She has extensive education knowledge and has an ESOL certification, special needs teaching experience, grant writing ability, and Florida teaching certification.


She is a proud mom to two grown children and lives with her husband in Neptune Beach.

F. Scott Pauzar

Scott is a Partner at Saalfield Law specializing in medical malpractice defense, premises liabilities, wrongful death, insurance defense, and general liability defense.


He has 14 years of experience practicing law, including four years as an Assistant State Attorney for the 20th Judicial Circuit of Florida, where he served as a felony prosecutor. He received his Juris Doctorate degree from the University of Nevada-Las Vegas.


Before becoming an attorney, he was a financial consultant at Bank of America, Deutsche Bank, and A.G. Edwards. He served four years as a Senior Airman in the United States Air Force in Incirlik AB, Turkey and Nellis AFB, Nevada. As a father to a precious 4-year-old daughter, Scott is excited for the opportunity to bring Cornerstone Classical Academy to the Jacksonville area.
