How is CCA planning for COVID-19 for the start of the 2020-2021 school year?

CCA leadership is working with DCPS, Florida Department of Health, Duval County Health Department and other leaders to ensure we are taking appropriate precautions to open the school for the 2020-2021 school year. As we received guidance, more detail will be provided in the FAQs below, in our newsletters and on our official FB page.

Will CCA be doing distance learning?

Based on the latest executive order and guidance from the Florida Department of Education, Cornerstone Classical Academy WILL offer an online "Innovative Learning" option for parents. This option will be in addition to our regular 5-day per week schedule. Parents may choose either option.

Will masks be required for all students and teachers at CCA?

Masks for students, teachers, staff, and visitors will not be required, but masks will be optional for those who prefer to wear them.

Will the school schedule be affected?

We will follow the Duval County Public Schools 2020-21 School Calendar and will hold regular in-person classes on Early Dismissal Days.

How can I stay updated on the latest information and planning from CCA?

Keep an eye on this FAQ page. We will be updating it regularly as we get questions from parents and receive more information from state and local authorities. Also, check our FB page regularly and watch CCA Facebook live events such as Office Hours and Parent Information Nights. And finally, if you have not signed up for our newsletter, this is also a good source of updated information. You can sign up using the "get updates" form on the homepage of this website.

How will CCA keep the buildings and classrooms sanitized?

We will conduct robust cleaning regimens throughout the academy on a daily basis.

Is CCA going to eliminate P.E. and recess?

CCA students will continue to have both P.E. classes and recess.

Will social distancing be practiced on campus?

We will practice social distancing within the classroom and within all spaces of the academy to the maximum extent possible. Our classrooms are significantly larger than many other schools' classrooms and offer safe and comfortable space.

Will CCA be doing temperature checks?

Yes. We will efficiently check temperatures of students, faculty, staff, and all visitors who enter the academy beyond the lobby.

Will the school provide hand sanitizing stations?

Hand sanitizing stations will be present in the lobby of the academy and in all gathering areas (classrooms, lunch areas, PE areas, recess areas, restrooms, and all office spaces, including the clinic).

Are there any other specific precautions CCA will be taking besides those already described to prevent the spread of COVID-19 and other diseases?

Yes. We are also planning to install plastic sneeze guards on surfaces where necessary.

Will 6th grade students have a different schedule?

Sixth grade students will attend classes every day of the school week, in keeping with the schedules of all kindergarten-fifth grade students.

Will Cornerstone Classical Academy start on the same day as other DCPS schools on August 20th?

Yes. Cornerstone Classical Academy's charter requires us to follow the DCPS calendar for start and end dates. Therefore, our first day of school for students will be August 20th.
